CAB proposes bylaw revision

At Monday night’s CAB meeting, a new bylaw revision was proposed to club representatives.

The current bylaws state that, “the organization membership will be composed of one representative from a recognized organization who shall represent only one organization who has been elected from the organization and should be an actively enrolled at Chadron State College.”

If the revision passes, students could be representatives for up to three clubs for club attendance.

“I know that a lot of clubs are really small and have a hard time finding people who are available at this time on Monday’s,” said CAB Chair Sadie Shepard.

CAB representatives voted to pass the bylaw revision onto senate, where the bylaw revision committee will review it.

“I think that it would be more conducive to productive CAB meetings if students were allowed to represent more than one club, that way students that are involved and want to represent things can do that and you don’t have a bunch of apathetic students just sitting there because someone has to be there so their club doesn’t lose stuff,” said Revive CAB representative Abigail Swanson.

Another topic discussed at Monday’s meeting was the tabled discussion on Carl Miner.

Shepard informed CAB that Miner is already set to preform for students on March 21 in Memorial Hall but is looking to increase the numbers of attendance, which he thought that CAB could help do.

Tickets to his concert currently cost $10 per student. Shepard suggested several ideas to help cover that cost for students. One would have CAB pay for $100 worth of tickets and the first 50 students to show up get in for free while also eliminating a free movie night to cover the expense. Another was to pay half the price of the tickets and let students pay the other half. Her final suggestion was not get involved in the concert and let students pay the full ticket price.

The discussion was tabled for next week to allow CAB representatives to think the decision over.
